In every moment of experience that we learn and make us understand what happens in our lives. God gave us free-will for we can decide the path that we follow and the life that wish to have.
Telma, Plinio and Germano had their moments of choice and, if chosen well or badly, no matter. What really matters is that, even without knowing, always had to turn friends, embodied and disembodied, which helped at all times. At the end felt that, despite everything, all is not lost, because God, regardless of social class, race or creed, will always be willing to receive His children in His arms.

APPARENT LONELINESS

In mid-1932, the "Spiritist Center Luiz Gonzaga" was reduced to a table of five people, Mr. José Hermínio Perácio, Mrs. D. Carmen Pena Perácio, Mr. Jose Xavier, Mrs. D. Geni Pena Xavier and Mr. Chico Xavier.
The patients and obsess always emerged, but, soon after the first improvement, disappeared as if by magic.
Mr. Perácio and lady, however, needed to move to Belo Horizonte City for family life needs.
The group was limited to three companions. Mrs. D. Geni, however, the wife of Mr. José Xavier, got sick and the home went to run with only the two brothers.
Mr. José, however, was saddler, and at that time was sought by a creditor who sold it hides, the lender insisted that it receive the services at night, working in a harness, in the form of payment. Therefore, despite their good will, need to stop the frequently to the group by at least several months.
Mr. Chico Xavier looking itself alone, also wanted to leave.
But, in the first night, which felt alone in the spiritist center, not knowing how to act, Emmanuel came to him and said:
- You can not retire. Continue in service.
- Continue as? We have no visitors ...
- What about us? - Said the spirit friend.
- We also need to hear the Gospel to reduce our errors. And, besides us, we have many disembodied that need clarification and consolation. Open the meeting on the time schedule, look together the lesson of the Lord, and not close the session before two hours of work.
Accordingly, for many months, from 1932 to 1934, Chico Xavier opened the small hall of the Center and made the opening prayer at eight in the evening. Then open the "Gospel According to Spiritism", at random and read this or that statement, commenting on it aloud.
For this occasion, his seeing medianimity it has more clarity.
See and heard dozens of souls disembodied and suffering that went to the group, looking for peace and rebuild.
Listened to them the questions and gave answers to them under the direct inspiration of Emmanuel.
For others, however, prayed, talked and gestures alone ...
And these meetings of an alone Medium with the disembodied, in the spiritist center, with bright and open doors, it repeated every night from Mondays and Fridays.

Affection of Certain Spirits for Certain Persons

484. Do spirits affectionately prefer certain persons?
"Good spirits sympathize with all men who are good, or susceptible of amelioration; inferior spirits, with men who are bad, or who may become such. The attachment, in both cases, is a consequence of the similarity of sentiment."

485. Is the affection of certain spirits for certain persons exclusively one of sentiment?
"True affection has nothing of carnality; but, when a spirit attaches himself to a living person, it is not always through affection only; for there may also be in that attachment a reminiscence of human passions."

486. Do spirits take an interest in our misfortunes and our prosperity? Those who wish us well, are they grieved by the ills we undergo during life?
"Good spirits do you all the good they can, and rejoice with you in all your joys. They mourn over your afflictions when you do not bear them with resignation, because in that case affliction produces no beneficial result, for you are like the sick man who rejects the disagreeable draught that would cure him."

487. What is the kind of ills that causes most grief to our spirit-friends? Is it cur physical sufferings, or our moral imperfections?
"What grieves them most is your selfishness and your hard heartedness, for these are the root of all your troubles. They smile at the imaginary sorrows that are born of pride and ambition; they rejoice in those which will shorten your term of trial."

Our spirit-friends, knowing that corporeal life is only transitory, and that the tribulations by which it is accompanied are the means that will enable us to reach a happier state, are more grieved for us by the moral imperfections which keep us back, than by physical ills, which are only transitory.
Spirits attach as little importance to misfortunes which affect us only in our earthly ideas, as we do to the trilling sorrows of childhood. Seeing the afflictions of life to be the means of our advancement, they regard them only as the passing crisis which will restore the sick man to health. They are grieved by our sufferings, as we are grieved by those of a friend but, judging the events of our lives from a truer point of view, they appreciate them differently. While inferior spirits try to drive us to despair, in order to hinder our advancement, the good ones seek to inspire us with the courage that will turn our trials into a source of gain for our future.

Em todos os momentos passamos por experiências que nos fazem aprender e entender o que acontece em nossas vidas. Deus nos deu o livre arbítrio pa-ra que possamos decidir o caminho que queremos seguir e a vida que de-sejamos ter. Telma, Plínio e Germano tiveram seus momentos de escolha e, se escolheram bem ou mal, não impor-ta. O que realmente importa é que, mesmo sem saber, sempre tiveram ao seu lado amigos, encarnados e desen-carnados, que os ajudaram em todos os momentos. No final entenderam que, apesar de tudo, Nem Tudo Está Perdido, pois Deus, independente de classe social, raça ou credo, estará sempre disposto a receber Seus filhos em Seus braços.

Dizem que havia um cego sentado na calçada, com um boné a seus pés e um pedaço de madeira que, escrito com giz branco, dizia:
-"Por favor, ajude-me, sou cego".
Um publicitário da área de criação que passava em frente a ele parou e viu umas poucas moedas no boné.
Sem pedir licença, pegou o cartaz, virou-o, pegou o giz e escreveu outro anúncio. Voltou a colocar o pedaço de madeira aos pés do cego e foi embora.
Pela tarde o publicitário voltou a passar em frente ao cego que pedia esmola. Agora, o seu boné estava cheio de notas e moedas.
O cego reconheceu as pisadas e lhe perguntou se havia sido ele quem reescreveu seu cartaz, sobretudo querendo saber o que havia colocado.
O publicitário respondeu:
-"Nada que não esteja de acordo com o seu anúncio, mas com outras palavras".
Sorriu e continuou seu caminho.
O cego nunca soube, mas seu novo cartaz dizia:
-"Hoje é Primavera e não posso vê-la".

SOLIDÃO APARENTE

Em meados de 1932, o "Centro Espírita Luiz Gonzaga" estava reduzido a um quadro de cinco pessoas, José Hermínio Perácio, D. Carmen Pena Perácio, José Xavier, D. Geni Pena Xavier e o Chico.
Os doentes e obsidiados surgiram sempre, mas, logo depois das primeiras melhoras, desapareciam como por encanto.
Perácio e senhora, contudo, precisavam transferir-se para Belo Horizonte por impositivos da vida familiar.
O grupo ficou limitado a três companheiros. D. Geni, porém, a esposa de José Xavier, adoeceu e a casa passou a contar apenas com os dois irmãos.
José, no entanto, era seleiro e, naquela ocasião, foi procurado por um credor que lhe vendia couros, credor esse que insistia em receber-lhe os serviços noturnos, numa oficina de arreios, em forma de pagamento. Por isso, apesar de sua boa vontade, necessitava interromper a freqüência ao grupo, pelo menos, por alguns meses.
Vendo-se sozinho, o Médium também quis ausentar-se.
Mas, na primeira noite, em que se achou a sós no centro, sem saber como agir, Emmanuel apareceu-lhe e disse:
- Você não pode afastar-se. Prossigamos em serviço.
- Continuar como? Não temos freqüentadores...
- E nós? - disse o espírito amigo.
- Nós também precisamos ouvir o Evangelho para reduzir nossos erros. E, além de nós, temos aqui numerosos desencarnados que precisam de esclarecimento e consolo. Abra a reunião na hora regulamentar, estudemos juntos a lição do Senhor, e não encerre a sessão antes de duas horas de trabalho.
Foi assim que, por muitos meses, de 1932 a 1934, o Chico abria o pequeno salão do Centro e fazia a prece de abertura, às oito da noite em ponto. Em seguida, abria o "Evangelho Segundo o Espiritismo", ao acaso e lia essa ou aquela instrução, comentando-a em voz alta.
Por essa ocasião, a vidência nele alcançou maior lucidez.
Via e ouvia dezenas de almas desencarnadas e sofredoras que iam até o grupo, à procura de paz e refazimento.
Escutava-lhes as perguntas e dava-lhes respostas sob a inspiração direta de Emmanuel.
Para os outros, no entanto, orava, conversava e gesticulava sozinho...
E essas reuniões de um Médium a sós com os desencarnados, no Centro, de portas iluminadas e abertas, se repetiam todas as noites de segundas e sextas-feiras.

AFEIÇÃO QUE OS ESPÍRITOS VOTAM A CERTAS
484. Os Espíritos se afeiçoam de preferência a certas pessoas?
“Os bons Espíritos simpatizam com os homens de bem, ou suscetíveis de se melhorarem. Os Espíritos inferiores com os homens viciosos, ou que podem tornar-se tais. Daí suas afeições, como conseqüência da conformidade dos sentimentos.”
485. É exclusivamente moral a afeição que os Espíritos votam a certas pessoas?
“A verdadeira afeição nada tem de carnal; mas, quando um Espírito se apega a uma pessoa, nem sempre o faz só por afeição. À estima que essa pessoa lhe inspira pode agregar-se uma reminiscência das paixões humanas.”
486. Interessam-se os Espíritos pelas nossas desgraças e pela nossa prosperidade? Afligem-se os que nos querem bem com os males que padecemos durante a vida?
“Os bons Espíritos fazem todo o bem que lhes é possível e se sentem ditosos com as vossas alegrias. Afligem-se com os vossos males, quando os não suportais com resignação, porque nenhum benefício então tirais deles, assemelhando-vos, em tais casos, ao doente que rejeita a beberagem amarga que o há de curar.”
487. Dentre os nossos males, de que natureza são os de que mais se afligem os Espíritos por nossa causa?Serão os males físicos ou os morais?
“O vosso egoísmo e a dureza dos vossos corações. Daí decorre tudo o mais. Riem-se de todos esses males imaginários que nascem do orgulho e da ambição. Rejubilam com os que redundam na abreviação do tempo das vossas provas.”
Sabendo ser transitória a vida corporal e que as tribulações que lhe são inerentes constituem meios de alcançarmos melhor estado, os Espíritos mais se afligem pelos nossos males devidos a causas de ordem moral, do que pelos nossos sofrimentos físicos, todos passageiros. Pouco se incomodam com as desgraças que apenas atingem as nossas idéias mundanas, tal qual fazemos com as mágoas pueris das crianças. Vendo nas amarguras da vida um meio de nos adiantarmos, os Espíritos as consideram como a crise ocasional de que resultará a salvação do doente. Compadecem-se dos nossos sofrimentos, como nos compadecemos dos de um amigo. Porém, enxergando as coisas de um ponto de vista mais justo, os apreciam de um modo diverso do nosso. Então, ao passo que os bons nos levantam o ânimo no interesse do nosso futuro, os outros nos impelem ao desespero, objetivando comprometer-nos.
